Visit one of the most ancient towns in the world, founded by Greek settlers in the 8th century B.C. Over 3 centuries it was one of the most powerful and rich cities in the Mediterranean area. The oldest part of Siracusa was founded on the small island Ortigia, which today is the historical center of the town, with Greek remains standing side by side with renaissance buildings and baroque churches. You will visit the Cathedral built in the structure of a hellenistic temple dedicated to the goddess Athena. Afterwards you will see the fountains of Aretusa and Diana as well as the ruins of the Apollo Temple. After lunch, the tour proceeds to the Archaeological Park where you can admire the 5th century B.C. Greek Theatre – still used in summer for classic theatre performances. Duration is approx. 7 hours.
