Historic Shanghai tour – full day

Take a full day trip in and outside of Shanghai with an English-speaking guide where you will visit several sites. The tour is approx. 8 hours and lunch and transfer back to the hotel are included. On the tour you will experience:
Jade Buddha Temple - in the western part of Shanghai, a very modern and flourishing city, there is a venerable and famous Buddhist temple, Jade Buddha Temple. In 1882, an old temple was built to keep two jade Buddha statues which had been brought from Burma by a monk named Huigen. The temple was destroyed during the revolution that overthrew the Qing Dynasty. Fortunately, the jade Buddha statues were saved, and a new temple was built on the present site in 1928. It was named the Jade Buddha Temple.
The Bund - Drive to the Bund and enjoy a walk along the Huangpu River. This park-like promenade, stretching along the Huangpu River between the narrow Wusong River and Old Town, was the former Wall Street of the foreign powers. Today the area bristles with activity and excitement virtually any time of the day or night. Crowds gather every morning to perform the slow, graceful exercises known as taichi.
Chenghuangmiao - Town God's Temple, Old Town and Yuyuan Garden is a famous classical garden located in Anren Jie, Shanghai. The garden was finished in 1577 by a government officer of the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) named Pan Yunduan. Yu in Chinese means pleasing and satisfying, and this garden was specially built for Pan's parents as a place for them to enjoy a tranquil and happy time in their old age.
Water town Zhujiajiao has a history of more than 1700 years. Covering an area of 47 square kilometers the little fan-shaped town glimmers like a bright pearl in the landscape of lakes and mountains.
Endowed with another elegant name - 'Pearl Stream' - the little town is the best-preserved among the four ancient towns in Shanghai. Unique old bridges across bubbling streams, small rivers shaded by willow trees and houses with courtyards attached all transport people who have been living amidst the bustle and hustle of the modern big city to a brand-new world full of antiquity, leisure and tranquility.
