Trinity College - Book of Kells
Trinity College was founded, by Queen Elizabeth 1st, in 1592, in a reform-oppressed Augustinian/catholic priory.
Gradually, Trinity College overcame their exclusively Protestant leanings, and is now one of Irelands leading schools.
In addition it is one of the most popular sites to visit in Ireland, partly because Trinity College is home to, Book of Kells, an illuminated/colorized manuscript in Latin, containing the four Gospels of the New Testament as well as various introductory material.
The book, which was written in Velin, by Celtic monks in the 9th century, is considered one of Ireland’s greatest treasures.
The tour is about 60 minutes.
Please note that this tour is very popular, and queues are to be expected in peak season.
