Arc de Triomphe - The old Triumphant Arch
The Arc de Triomphe stands in the centre of the Place Charles de Gaulle. Twelve grand avenues radiate from here, including the Champs Elysées.
Beneath the 50 m high arch is the tomb of the Unknown Soldier on which the eternal flame burns. Each day at 18:30, the flame is rekindled with a ceremony with the participation of former soldiers.
Sometimes only 3 or 4 soldiers attend the ceremony, but you might be lucky and see the whole regiment with music and pageantry.
Unfortunately, it is not possible to book a visit beforehand.
